Remembering a dream

Last night, I dreamt about going to Pittsburgh and back in one day with Alex. We were doing something for my cousin, Charlie, and his wife Ashley. I don't know what we did or why, but it was very hectic completing the task and then getting back to the airport. I don't know if I could be a traveling business man. Life seemed too fast, at least in the dream. Dream Pittsburgh had that wonderful feeling of complete comfort. I wish Alex did not hate it so much. Throughout the dream I kept on saying we were rocketmen; I was being pretty annoying. Rocketman was the soundtrack to the entire dream and now it is in my head.

Crap I have to run off to work to fill up tons of water balloons. Last day of the first session of the NJTL camp. Then the Bonanza on my Birthday.

A New Year

Well, another year has come and nothing feels all that different. Alex and I went to Andrew and Megann's for a LAN type party. I mainly played with kittens trying to "people-ize" them. I named the black one Hades, the two gray ones Apollo and Artemis, the fluffy one was already named Lion Pixel, and then there is the one person broken kitten, Wren. Bryan wants to take Wren for a friend for Digit. The names really emphasize my nerdiness for classics. Speaking of which, I will soon be starting my second to last semester in the Master's program. I have learned a whole lot, but there is still a whole lot to know. I'm intimidated by my thesis and applying for Grad schools. I wonder what will happen.

This past Christmas was pretty good. I got Alex a membership to Prestige, the gym close by. We have been eating what the meal plan told her to. She feels like she is still gaining weight though. The diet is supposed to kick start her metabolism, and I think once she starts exercising (today) she will be able to see weight loss.

My dad got my mom a Snuggie, which is hilarious. I got it on my new Flip video camera which my parents gave to me. I really hope I get to go on a dig which would give me the opportunity to use it the way I envisioned it. They also gave me Rome: Total War, which is really fun and hard (and also again emphasizes my nerdy love for the Classics). Alex and her parents gave me NCAA 2010 for the PS3. That is also insanely fun and shows how much of a nerd I am for sports. The PS3 is also used a good amount of the time now, further justifying such a purchase. In a final note, my parents also gave me the Penguin translation of Appian's Civil Wars. It's about time I own this. After complaining every semester that the UA library didn't have a good copy of Appian, they only had the Loeb from the teens, and needing it for papers each semester I now have a copy all my own. The funny thing is that if I do my thesis on what I'm thinking, I won't need it for that. I also don't foresee needing it this coming semester with my Latin class on Ovid, Greek on Euripides, and my seminar on power structures or something like that, but hey I did use it in my ancient foods class.

I'm listening to Grooveshark and am now amazed how Radiohead's No Surprises leads nicely into Weezer's Falling For You. I also have found a new unsettling, sad feeling listening to The Verve Pipe's Freshmen. I still remember Dustin Sanderson, Gavin, and Charlie playing it at an 8th grade dance. It is still weird knowing he died. I still remember seeing him around Christmas and everything in his life seemed to be coming together then a few months later he died from drugs. I hope his family and his son are doing okay.

I think that's it for now. I have some video games to get to and maybe taking down some Christmas decorations.
